Methodology

Scoring 44 quote-to-cash tools: 7 criteria, no estimates

Quote-to-cash (QTC) is the revenue process that runs from the first quote to the cash in the bank. Vendors describe it in very different ways: some call themselves CPQ, others billing, revenue management or collections platforms. Quote-to-Cash Software exists to compare them on the same grid.

44 tools are scored out of 100 points, on 79 capabilities grouped in 12 stages: catalog and pricing, configure-price-quote, approvals, proposals and signature, contracts, orders, billing and invoicing, payments and collections, tax, revenue recognition, renewals, and reporting and platform.

Each capability is graded from the vendor's own public website or documentation, and the page that proves it is linked on the tool's page. For 20 tools, the starting point was a research file built from the same public sources and checked again before publication; for one of them, the vendor confirmed some answers directly, and those answers count like the rest.

The base rule: nothing is estimated. A capability that is not documented scores zero: not an average, not a guess. A product can therefore be good and score low if its vendor publishes little.

No vendor pays to be listed, to move up or to be removed. Archipel Marketing is not ranked on any of the rankings it publishes.
